A PEACE-
FUL PLACE

Product Description:

A Peaceful Place is a headstone created for small urn graveyards in Copenhagen. It is made of Corten steel and copper, which are widely used in modern Danish architecture. It is simple and has many possibilities. A house with rune-inspired text on the top as well as a place for storing tools, vases or a dram. A seat to rest on when turned upside down or kneeling stool for gardening. The idea for this combination arose for a peaceful place where people can be close to those who have passed away.

The project was conceived in response to the design brief for the Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition 2023, which underscored the symbiotic relationship between architecture and furniture design. Aligning with the theme "A Piece for a Place," the exhibition encouraged designers to create site-specific pieces that harmonize with their intended environments. By reimagining the traditional notion of furniture within architectural settings, the project seeks to evoke emotional resonance and functional elegance in Copenhagen's small cemeteries, catering to the families and friends of the deceased.
