Inspiration for Vík came from the Vík bay in Mýrdal, which also happens to be the Old Norse word for port or harbor. Many places where the Norsemen landed have names ending in -vik, for obvious reasons. The asymmetrical bent frame follows the shape of the rocky coast, creating a narrow opening at the top hints to the bay entrance. The mirror itself represents the smooth surface of the water.
Vík is part of the ROOTS collection, where Dögg goes back to her roots in Iceland and uses the shape of the trees, mountains, cracked ice and dried sand as an inspiration for the shapes of her new series.
