Where moon and sun meet in the light of play. Luna Sól – Gló was developed for a specific hospital in Aarhus.

The idea emerged after a hospital visit, where I reflected on how waiting time and uncertainty can shape a child’s experience in healthcare spaces. On my way home, a memory resurfaced.

In 2021, I was teaching children (ages 6–12) art and design in Iceland. There was always a queue at the light table. Children gathered around it, completely absorbed. They experimented, layered colours, explored transparency and most importantly, they forgot about time. That moment stayed with me.

At home, I had seen something similar. When my own children and I were sick, we gathered around a table. Drawing, playing board games, building with Lego. The table became a place of connection. Illness felt smaller. Togetherness felt bigger.

Somewhere between that hospital visit and those memories, the foundation for Luna Sól – Gló was formed.

The colours are chosen with intention:

• Two reds — for courage and strength

• Two yellows — for joy and appetite

• Two greens — for calm and balance

• One orange — for life and energy

• One light blue — for hope and breath

• One light brown — for warmth and grounding
